Bachelor of Law Degree with Honours – LLB (Hons)

 

Why study Law at CLBS?

CLBS has build up its reputation in the offering of the LLB(Hons) Degree examined externally by the University of London. Despite being a young institution, CLBS prides itself in having obtained a 100% pass rate for the LLB(Hons) Final examinations in 2006 & 2007 with all its students having graduated. Average pass rates for this course averages 60% (much higher than the local pass rates of about 30%). A dedicated team of six extremely competent and experienced lecturers teach on the LLB(Hons) Degree.

 

Structure:

Bachelor of Laws – LLB (Hons)

The LLB degree is offered under four schemes of examination:

 

Scheme A:

Scheme B:

· 12 subjects taken in 3 parts    
·  Study period: 3-8 years

 

· 12 subjects taken in 4 parts     
· Study period: 4-8 years

Graduate Entry Route A

Graduate Entry Route B:

· 9 subjects taken in 2 parts       
· Study period: 2-8 years

· 9 subjects taken in 3 parts       
· Study period: 3-8 years

 

Entry Requirements:

To be eligible to register for the LLB students must be at least 17 years of age at the time of registration and have passes in:

 

  • either two subjects at GCE 'A' level and at least three further subjects at GCSE or GCE 'O' level (at not less than grade C or a 'pass' if taken prior to 1975)
  • or three subjects at GCE 'A' level and one further subject at GCSE or GCE 'O' level (at not less than grade C) 
  • or two subjects at GCE 'A' level and two further subjects at 'AS' level

The University also operates a Graduate entry. The following are eligible to apply for graduate entry: 

 

  • graduates holding a full first degree from a state university in the United Kingdom or another European country or in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong SAR, Israel, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Sri Lanka, South Africa or the West Indies.
  • graduates holding a full first degree from a regionally accredited institution in the USA.
  • graduates holding a full first degree from an Indian Institute of Technology or a four-year, full-time first degree from a recognised university or a three-year, full-time first degree from a limited number of acceptable universities in India.

Note: Applications from students with other degrees not listed above will be considered at the discretion of the University. Professional qualifications cannot be considered for graduate entry.
